Amazon's Category system has changed again, and it's REALLY important that authors understand how.
As it currently stands, we can go into our KDP and select 3 categories from there…No more BISACs, or requesting more through forms like it used to be.
Just 3 and done.
Sounds pretty simple right?
Well, on the surface it seems that way. But there are some serious problems with this system that you need to know about:
- 54% of the categories are duplicates of each other
- 27% of categories won’t allow you to be a bestseller for it, and you can’t even find the category page on Amazon - called “Ghost Categories”
- Amazon can remove you from categories, change them, and add you to more at their will.
